The band are as you know called iDLEWiLD, they are name after the woods in childrens book "Anne Of Green Gables".

The band consist of : ROD JONES - Guitar, Backing vocals, occasionally piano

                                         BOB FAIRFOULL - Bass

                                         COLIN NEWTON - Drums

                                         RODDY WOOMBLE -   Vocals

 

Now here (courtsey of Bob, cheers!) is the history of iDLEWiLD........

December 1995 - Band formed after meeting at a student party. Then played gigs in Edinburgh and Glasgow regularly until...............

February 1997 - Bob Fairfoull joins the band as bass player Phil Scanlon leaves on "amicable" terms.

17th March 1997 - Self-financed single "Queen Of The Troubled Teens" released on tiny "Human Condition" label. 1000 copies of the single available on 7" only. (This rarity is now worth �45.60).

March 1997 - Steve Lamacq plays single B-side "Self Healer" on The Evening Session.

28th March - The band play their first show in London. Nobody there.

April 1997 - A&R interest begins, more shows in London. Lots of gigs until...............

December 1997 - "Chandelier" 7" is released on "Feirce Panda" records. More gigs and recording of "Captain" the mini-album.

January 1998 - Band go out on first tour, supporting 'Midget' and 'Glitterbox'.

February 1998 - 7" single "Satan Polaroid" and mini-album "Captain" released on 'Deceptive' records.

March 1998 - Tour supporting 'Warm Jets'.

April 1998 - Some of "Hope Is Important" recorded, also they start their first headline tour.

May 1998 - "Film For The Future" single is released - first single for 'Food Records'.

June 1998 - "Hope Is Important" finishes being recorded. First festival played - "Roskilde" in Denmark, followed by Glastonbury, and shows with Blur.

July 1998 - "Hope Is Important" mixed. Band play 'T-in The Park' festival.

August 1998 - "Everyone Says You're So Fragile" single released, band play Reading Festival (and shit bricks at the sight of 7000 people watching them!)

September 1998 - Another headline tour.

October 1998 - "I'm A Message" single released, iDLEWiLD tour with 'Ash' and 'Chicks'. "Hope Is Important" album released.

November 1998 - Band go to America to play 'C.M.J' festival in New York, come home, then do another headline tour.

December 1998 - Band do shows in Japan (then have a holiday for Christmas!)

January 1999 - Band go on tour with 'UNKLE', 'Delakota' and 'Llama Farmers' for N.M.E Premier tour.

February 1999 - "When I Argue I See Shapes" single released. Band do shows in Ireland and Paris with Placebo. Also a headline a show in Amsterdam, 13 people turn up. ("....Argue...." reaches number 19 in the U.K charts)

March 1999 - First European tour supporting 'Manic Street Preachers'.

April 1999 - 3 weeks off, then began writing the next album.

 

NOTE: Some of these dates might be totally wrong, and  there's probably bits missed out as they (iDLEWiLD) can't remember everything too well !..........So don't moan to us if things are wrong, it's not our fault , this time!!!!
